Biodiversity Art and Slogan Competition December 2019

Slogan/rap representing the Junior end of the school: -First Class – class rap devised by the class: – Prize €20 voucher for Mulveys. Slogan/rap representing the Senior end of the school: –  Hugh O’Sullivan McGovern 4th Class Prize Cinema Family pass.  The posters displaying biodiversity were of a high standard and the following in each class were highly commended. Junior Infants – Ellie Glancy, Seamie Gilhooly, Abbie McWeeney. Senior Infants – Ruby Cooke, Eva Browne, Saoirse Cunningham. First Class – Saoirse O’Brien, Agatha Sorokina, Issac McDaid. Second Class – Senan Moran, Giuliana Keane, Daisy Mulvey. Third Class – Adam Reynolds, Savannah Coghlan. Fourth Class – Shay Quinlan, Freya Whitney, Sarah Kerr. Fifth Class – Emma Walsh, Chloe Fu, Ruby Doherty. Sixth Class – Oran Butler.   Congratulations and well done to everyone.

June 2019 all our hard work paid off and pupils harvested some vegetables grown in the school garden.

In March 2019 3rd Class pupils constructed a Bug Hotel under the direction of the class teacher and Martina Butler, Heritage Expert. Pupils in Second Class planted seeds. Pupils in First Class paticipated in the Incredible Edibles programme. Thanks to Terry for all her help, advice and expertise. First class really enjoyed working with her. We aslo planted a Cherry, Apple and Pear tree along the side of the school. Thanks to Geraldine in the Drumsna Garden Centre for visiting the school and assisting in drawing up an overall plan. Pupils in 3rd Class planted cress, tomato, peas, turnip, carrot and varius flower seeds. Thanks to Pauric Keane who donated a bird and bat box to the school.

Final Day of the Big Travel Challenge 2019

Tuesday 19th February 2019. Thanks to everyone for walking to school over the past 10 days. We really appreciate all your support.

Big Travel Challenge February 2019

We walked to school every day from Wednesday 6th February to Wednesday 20th February 2019 as part of the Big Travel Challenge 2019. We even walked to school during storm Eric on Friday 8th February!

Energy Workshops

Ingrid Foley visited the school on Tuesday 15th January 2018 and gave a workshop on Energy to pupils in 1st, 3rd and 4th class.

Pupils form all classes were asked to devise a Green Schools Slogan/ Poster/ Rap on the theme of Biodiversity. Pupils were aslo asked to design a Christmas decoration or craft usingrecycling materials. The entries were amazing: –
